Information Retrieval

Information Retrieval (IR) is the process of obtaining information system resources that are relevant to an information need from a collection of those resources. It involves the activity of searching for information within large datasets, typically using algorithms and various techniques, to locate, access, and manage information. IR systems are commonly employed in contexts such as search engines, digital libraries, and databases, where users input queries to find specific documents, data, or multimedia content. The effectiveness of an IR system is often measured by its precision (the relevancy of the retrieved information) and recall (the completeness of relevant information retrieved).
